Alexander is a PhD student in the Biological Sciences Department, mentored by Dr. Eric Yttri. He is interested in how intentional actions are produced and regulated in the brain. As a part of his graduate studies, he is pursuing this interest by investigating the role of the basal ganglia in the regulation and execution of untrained purposive actions in freely moving animals.

Alexander graduated from the University of Michigan in 2015 with a B.S. in Neuroscience. He currently resides in Pittsburgh, PA and enjoys tinkering with open source electronics and hiking through local state parks in his free time.
