COLLABORATIONS

We are collaborating with Philip Andrews at the University of Michigan and Michael Rout at Rockefeller University to use mass spectrometry to assay protein constituents of preribosomes. For example, how is the inventory altered by inactivation of certain assembly factors?

Together with Philipp Milkereit at the University of Regensburg, Lasse Lindahl at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and Jesus de la Cruz at the Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla (IBIS) Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocio / CSIC / Universidad Sevilla and Departmento de Genetica, Universidad de Sevilla, we are investigating the roles of ribosomal proteins in maturation of the large ribosomal subunit in yeast, and the connection between ribosome biogenesis and cell cycle progression.

We are working with Stuart Maxwell at North Carolina Stae University to investigate when each modification of pre-rRNA occurs during assembly of ribosomes, and the steps in assembly for which each modification is important.

With Ning Gao at Tsinghua University, we are carrying out high resolution cryo-electron microscopy to investigate the structures of ribosome assembly intermediates.
